Walk into any new villa in Ahmedabad or a sea-facing flat in Mumbai and you'll see the same things first: the rainfall shower, the brushed-gold towel rail, the marble that cost more than the car outside. Nobody looks at the floor drain. And that's exactly the part that decides whether the bathroom still looks like a showroom in year five.
This guide covers the luxury bathroom fixtures India is specifying for 2027, from showers and finishes to accessories. It also covers the one fixture most budgets get wrong. We make that fixture for a living, so we'll be honest about where it matters and where it doesn't.
What "luxury" means in an Indian bathroom now
Luxury used to mean imported. Today it means three things: the room looks calm, it stays clean without effort, and nothing rusts, smells or leaks.
That shift explains the trends. Walk-in showers with no step. Floors that run edge to edge in one tile. Warm metal finishes in place of chrome. Fewer visible fittings, and better ones.
Every one of those trends puts more pressure on drainage. A curbless shower only works if water leaves fast and in the right direction. A seamless floor only stays seamless if the drain disappears into it.
The shower sets the mood
A rainfall head is still the centrepiece of most premium bathrooms. It's also the reason so many of them flood. An overhead shower puts out far more water than a hand shower, spread across a wider area, and a small round grate in the corner can't keep up.
Plan the shower and the drain together. If the shower head is wide, the drain should be long. Pridel's shower range (PR-2001 series) and shower arms (PR-2101 series) are listed alongside our drains in the 2026 catalogue for this reason: specify them as a pair.
Linear and tile-insert drains: the fixture that makes the room
If you change one thing on your next project, make it this. A linear channel drain runs along a wall or the shower entry. The floor slopes one way, so you can use large-format tiles without cutting them into an envelope pattern. The result is the clean, hotel-style floor everyone pins on Pinterest.
A tile-insert drain goes one step further. Its cover is a tray you fill with the same tile as the floor, so all that's visible is a thin steel line. From two steps back, it vanishes.
What to check before you buy:
- Grade of steel. SS304 for bathrooms, full stop. SS202 is fine for dry, indoor accessory use, but it marks and pits faster around constant moisture and cleaning chemicals. For coastal sites from Goa to Chennai, ask for SS316.
- Cockroach trap. An auto-close trap seals the pipe when no water flows. In high-rises, this keeps out both smell and insects, and it's the first thing residents complain about when it's missing.
- Removable parts. Hair and soap build up in every drain. If the trap and grate lift out by hand, the drain stays fast for years.
- Size against flow. Match drain length to the shower. A 600 mm channel suits most walk-in showers; wide rainfall setups need longer.
The floor drain collection and shower range spans 21 families (PR-101 to PR-2108), in square, round, linear and tile-insert formats.
Finishes: warm metal is winning
Chrome still sells. But the premium end has moved to brushed and coloured metal, and for good reason: satin and matte surfaces hide water spots and fingerprints that chrome shows within a day.
The catch is consistency. A gold mixer next to a silver drain grate looks like a mistake. So finish the whole room in one family. Pridel's 2026 range comes in five finishes:
Finish | Looks best with | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Satin (brushed SS) | Grey stone, concrete-look tile | Hides water marks; the safest choice |
PVD Gold | White or Statuario marble | Warm, classic, hotel-lobby look |
PVD Rose Gold | Beige, blush and terracotta tones | Softer than gold; popular in master baths |
PVD Black | Light tiles, wood-look floors | Strong contrast; pairs with matte black taps |
P.C. Black | Budget-conscious black schemes | Powder-coated; for low-wear areas |
PVD (physical vapour deposition) bonds the colour to the steel at a molecular level. It won't flake like plating does, which is why we use it on the drain grates as well as the accessories.
Accessories finish the story
Towel rails, robe hooks, soap dishes and paper holders are small, but you touch them every day. Cheap ones are the first thing in a bathroom to wobble or tarnish.
Our catalogue carries 11 accessory series, from the round-flange Ocean to the square-edged Elista and the newer Aura. Pick the series that matches the drain grate's shape (round with round, square with square) and the bathroom reads as one design rather than a collection of purchases.
Where to spend, and where not to
Here's an opinion most showrooms won't give you. Spend on the things buried in the floor and the wall. Save on the things you can swap later.
A mixer can be replaced in an afternoon. A drain is set in concrete and screed under ₹2,000-a-square-foot marble. Replacing it means breaking the floor. So if the budget is tight, buy a mid-range tap and the best drain you can get.
How Pridel makes them
Every Pridel drain goes through nine stages at our Shapar, Rajkot plant: laser cutting, processing, bending, argon welding, pressing, buffing, checking, packing and shipping. We're ISO 9001 certified, and since 2018 we've supplied more than 1,500 dealers, 25 distributors and 50 OEM brands across India and abroad. FAQ (add below the post + FAQPage schema)
Which floor drain is best for a luxury bathroom in India? A linear or tile-insert drain in SS304 with an auto-close cockroach trap. It suits large tiles, handles rainfall showers and keeps odours out.
What is the difference between SS304 and SS202 bathroom fittings? SS304 carries more nickel and chromium, so it resists rust and pitting in wet areas. SS202 costs less and suits dry, low-moisture uses.
Do PVD gold and black finishes fade? PVD bonds the colour into the steel surface, so it resists fading and flaking far better than electroplating. Clean it with mild soap, not acid cleaners.
Can I get a drain that matches my floor tile? Yes. Tile-insert drains have a recessed cover you fill with your own tile, leaving only a slim steel edge visible.
Does Pridel supply projects and OEM brands? Yes. Pridel supplies dealers, distributors, builders and 50+ OEM brands, with custom sizes and private labelling on request.
